Pauling is truly a role model for seeing the big picture, because his understanding of events in the atomic realm led him to grasp the tremendous dangers posed by nuclear testing, and his campaign for nuclear disarmament won him a second Nobel Prize, this one for Peace in 1962.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well-Done Intro College Chem Course; Mistitled This is a worthwhile intro to or review of first-year college chem. Of course the title is silly, but it probably caught more eyes than "Chem 101" would have. The lectures start with the basics of atomic structure; go through essentials such as chemical formulas, balancing chemical equations, enthalpy and entropy and free energy, intermolecular forces, phase changes, ions, acid-base reactions, and the like; and progress towards the end to a necessarily brief consideration of organic chemistry and other specialized subfields. However - if you have no chemistry background at all, such as you would get with a good high school course. you will find this one difficult going. While basic concepts are treated, they are generally not explained at a level that would be understood by a neophyte. Also, the course is mathematically oriented. The math is high school level, with a tiny bit of calculus, and is not terribly difficult (or interesting, for that matter), but there is quite a bit of it. There are also "challenge problems" at the end of perhaps half the lectures; I did not go through these, but they might be helpful if you are preparing for a test. Professor Davis is knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and speaks clearly and with good modulation. He is very well organized, and I particularly appreciated his summaries at the end of every lecture. There are a few weak points. Most significantly for me, I found that simple concepts were often given excess time and repetition, while more complex ideas were frequently treated rapidly and without full explanation. (I realize this is subjective, and would appreciate learning what others think.) Also, I found the lab demonstrations to be quite slow-moving; they were generally interesting and informative, but could have taken up significantly less time. On a more specific note, the explanation of the wave-particle duality of light, and the demonstration of the interference phenomenon, were far less clear and elegant than I have seen elsewhere, including in several Great Courses on physics. So - who would I recommend take, and not take, this course? Those who would appreciate and/or benefit from the course include: - Students with some chem background preparing for or reviewing basic college chem - Anyone with an elementary math and physics grounding who would like an overview of the essentials of today's understanding of chemistry Those who should think twice include: - Anyone with no knowledge of the very basic elements of chemistry and atomic structure - Anyone who is only interested in a qualitative understanding of the subject and who does not desire a quantitative treatment, i.e. anyone who is math-phobic A final, very positive, comment: The computer-generated visuals are outstanding! They are remarkably well-done, and greatly add to the ability to convey the concepts. TGC, please keep up your production of higher-level science courses! - Thank you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Initial or Refresher Course It has been many, many years since I received my degree in Chemistry and sorry to say I did not pursue a career in that discipline. However, I thought it might be interesting to see how the field has changed since my college years. So I watched the course. I was glad that I did. Not only has the field radically changed, the manner in which it is taught has also changed. More emphasis on math, more atomic structure, new compounds and new horizons to explore. I can assure you that Professor Davis is knowledgeable in the subject and well capable of presenting the material in a straight forward manner. Yes, there is a lot of math but nothing that is beyond the level of most people who would decide to take this course in the first place. I was impressed with the computer generated graphics in outlining the equations and it sure beats writing them down on a blackboard. The one area I was a little disappointed is the small number of actual laboratory experiments that were shown. I learned more chemistry working in a lab then I did in lectures but I can understand that the Great Courses building probably doesn't lend itself to a lab environment. The course was well structured and flowed naturally. The "why" of reactions was well presented and Dr Davis explained the underlying reasons that drive chemicals to behave the way they do. I am not going to cover all the areas that were included in the course. You can read the course content. In summary, if you are interested in Chemistry and have at least a high school background in math and science you Will be able to get through this course without difficulty. I recommend it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thourough and well written This course is well presented and organized, including the transcript, which has virtually no typos (worth buying). It includes solved problems and a fair number of interesting experiments. One thing I like is that the professor gives a lot of credit to the scientists who made significant contributions to chemistry. It is a good lead-in to the Great Courses on organic chemistry (also done by the same professor). On the down side, the professor sometimes uses terms without defining them (e.g. lone pair; allotrope). I gogoled them when curious.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I was hesitant to purchase this course... I feared shiny things, "the new math", or a "soft" approach to science. What I found was a solid background in chemical theory and very high production quality. Pros: 1.) General: Tightly and coherently scripted; stellar targeted demonstrations; summaries at the beginning and reviews at the end of each lecture. Davis' frequent referrals to earlier lectures ensure you're paying attention. CGI was a tremendous effort that made crystallography, etc much easier than trying to mentally 3D. Davis' repeated orientations to scale (micro vs macro) as we go in and out of the atomic and physical world levels are a great technique. 2.) Davis' multitude of real-life introductions to topics was wonderful. My favorite was the stoichiometry of camel fat turning tristearin into water and CO2 making ancient trade routes possible. 3.) Davis helps immensely when he points out WHY certain things are important to remember. EX: Molarity, molality, mole fractions, & mass% are often the bane of many young scientists. Davis clearly tells us which situations would call for each form and why. 4.) The last 19 lectures are not "university depth" but rather introductory lectures to other fields involving chemistry. However, they were excellent fun. His comments on environmental chemistry were cautiously factual rather than politically presented. 5.) Davis cleverly reminds us that science is approximate reality not absolute truth: EX: L13: "Hand & Mulliken's (molecular orbital) theories are just models working in certain circumstances" L43: no one knows why nuclei stick together, L51: "Living systems exercise control over synthesis that no chemist could ever hope to achieve in a beaker" L 57: "...touring the most fantastic lab ever created - our environment" L 60 "Can't make DNA w/o RNA, nor RNA w/o proteins: a classic circular reasoning." CONS 1.) There are no notes on the last (most advanced) 20% of many lectures in the otherwise outstanding 460 page guidebook. Consider a transcript or take notes. Quibbles 1.) I agree: the onscreen text is too small but was needed because of the text length of most problems. Fortunately, the professor reads the text. 2.) There are a few slide errors. EX: L31 Rate Law challenge problem slide error: k1 = (226)(k2) ...not the reverse, because k2 was the known. EX L38 Ka1 equation error on polyprotic acid slide 3.) "New math" events: [a.] In deriving the Ideal Gas Laws L22, Davis treats Avagadro's law proportionality in an entirely opposite way from Boyle's law and explains it off "as doing some additional operations". The answer came out right, but the explanation was not satisfactory. Although the derivation of the Ideal Gas Law can actually be rather sophisticated, it is much simpler to consider Boyles', Charles', and Avagadro's laws as equations with proportionality constants. Thus V = (k1)(1/P); V = (k2)(T); and V = (k3)(n). Therefore V= (K4)(Tn/P) or PV=NRT after R is substituted for k4 [b.] The L30 "new math" explanation of first/second order reactions was better explained in L31. Summary: If you want to be happy about Chemistry get this course. If you want to get paid for chemistry, Cardulla's "Chemistry" (which comes with a workbook) will flesh out your math skills. A crib sheet of important formulae and constants makes solving the course problems easier. If you are a college chemistry student with a thin wallet, consider the free 1256 page PDF download of the 13th/2015 Edition of Chemistry (Brown, LeMay, and Bursten) online as it appears to be Davis' primary reference.

Illustrations were poor, difficult to see, fuzzy and indistinct and predisposing a deep knowledge of subjects he was expected to teach.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It was a fun learning experience The catalog description of the course made it sound like it would take you on a journey of vast reaching answers to any question out there. It piqued my interest so I took the plunge. In reality it was that and much more. At the beginning of the lecture series, Professor Davis asks the question “Is chemistry the science of everything?” and in the ensuing lectures he goes about proving that it is. I have never taken a chemistry course before so I wasn’t sure what to expect. But I found that the subject as it was presented was very engaging. Each lecture built upon the knowledge learned from the previous ones in a logical manner so that comprehension of complex subjects could be grasped as I never expected myself to be able to do. The lecture series was filmed in such a manner that you felt you had your own personal tutor guiding you through the material. Professor Davis always looked into the camera and talked directly to me unless he was directing my attention to a graphic or display off to the side. He never looked down at notes or a script which kept my attention focused. The presentation was so much better than filming a live lecture would have been. Other reviewers have commented that they did not like the set in which the presentation was made. I liked the set and felt that it added rather than took away from the experience. I especially liked the dozens of graphics, animations and demonstrations that helped to cement the many complex concepts that the lectures covered. Professor Davis’ authoritative yet casual manner was key to the success of my understanding. And although I’m not a history buff, I appreciated learning about the men and women that have contributed to the science in the past. As at least one reviewer mentioned, they were disturbed that Mr. Davis had the same clothes on for all 60 lectures. (Really?) Certainly if you find it disturbing that there is no change of wardrobe throughout the series, then you should probably pass on this one. But you would be missing out on a rewarding venture. I really can’t say enough about how well this program was put together and executed. I certainly don’t have any recommendations of how the lecture series could have been any better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I’ve not had any formal study of chemistry since long ago when I was a college freshman studying physics and math (I can still remember the frustration of quantitative and qualitative analysis labs every Saturday from 8 to noon for those two semesters). With that in mind, I thought that Professor Davis’ new survey course would fill in the gaps in my knowledge and understanding. Even so I was surprised at the amount of territory covered and the depth that Dr. Davis brought to several subjects. This course and his lectures covered more and were generally more extensive (lab work excepted) than my 8 meager hours back in the dawn of time. Some areas, such as organic chemistry) I knew almost nothing and found the topics of sufficient interest that I will get his organic chemistry course), while others were reasonably familiar to me. On the less than perfect side, I thought that the two introductory lectures were way too elementary, but it must be said that the pace picked up rapidly. For example, Dr. Davis often assumed that everything that he had said previously was completely adsorbed by the student—he wasted no time in iterating what had come before. Strangely, I found the last few lectures to not be rigorous enough, as though the topics were too difficult and complex to be examined more closely. To be fair, however, more rigor there would have extended the course by several more lectures. The set for me was reminiscent of a minimalist Star Trek set (not sure if that is good or bad). Professor Davis was a competent speaker, never stumbling, although the studied mannerisms frequently turning for new camera angles. I became annoyed with the never-ending warnings to not try experiments at home, though I suppose TTC lawyers insisted. I think that this would be a great course for anyone interested in science and how the world works. Knowledge of basic algebra and logarithms is probably necessary and at least high school chemistry as well in order to understand the course. Integral calculus would be helpful, though not necessary for one or two lectures, but no more. Professor Davis gives the equations, but does not go through the math, so not very much math background is needed in order to understand the material presented in the course. The last few lectures would be a good introduction to TTC “Origins of Life” course. A very sound, extensive survey course.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Overview of Chemistry - with flaws To be fair, I have to state up front that I have not viewed this course in its entirety. I have watched the first 36 lectures, with the exclusion of #34, then watched the last eight lectures 53-60. That said, I feel I have seen enough to offer a fair and informative review. I have not taken a formal chemistry class since high school, of which I remember almost nothing. This course appears to fulfill its purpose successfully. It presents the subject in a clear yet comprehensive manner, starting with the basics and assuming no prior understanding. Prof. Davis wastes little time getting right into the meat of the subject, and does a good job of explaining and easing the viewer into more complex ideas. He is a first rate presenter and lecturer with near perfect speaking skills and clear diction, and is unencumbered with annoying verbal ticks, monotone speech, or excessive hand gestures. He displays a friendly and inviting lecture style that helps to dispel any apprehension the viewer might have for the complex subject matter. One immediately gets the impression that he is clearly at ease with and in command of his subject. The supplementary text and graphic information is well designed and executed, except for some specific cases which I detail later in the review. The occasional cut-aways to the separate lab experiments are always interesting and informative. The breakdown and categorization of the subject matter is clearly defined and presented in a logical and comprehensible manner. The information content of this course appears to be complete, but probably insufficient to provide a competent and functional grasp of the subject. After about the first 12-13 lectures I found myself seeking out extra sources of information to get a proper and complete comprehension of the subject. As other reviewers have stated, many of these lectures serve as more of an review of specific topics rather than a detailed discourse. I would highly recommend the serious student find a solid Chemistry textbook, and use these lectures as a supplementary illumination or reinforcement of the concepts. I resorted to an online Chemistry textbook that provided the adequate detail and rigor that is missing from many of these lectures. Aside from that short-coming, this course is probably more than adequate for the casual learner that simply wants a solid comprehensive view of chemistry. I skipped to the last 8 or 9 lectures when I reached a point at which my comprehension was failing. The last 9 lectures appear to be special interest topics of applications. I refer to them this way since they tend to dispense with the technical rigor of the previous lectures, and discuss practical overviews of broader more familiar subjects. Though they might be regarded as filler to complete a full 60 lecture outline, they are welcome inclusions that help put a more applicable face on a complex subject. I found them to be enlightening and informative without getting lost in too much technical detail. And now for the negative attributes of this course. Point one - the virtual set. To be blunt, it is a gawd-awful eyesore. The environmental background is cluttered, chaotic, and visually distracting. Worst of all, the stark white lines and high contrast elements of the set clashes with the popup text and graphics that appear next to the lecturer making them difficult to read. In a complex, technical course such as this, the information should be King and the primary focus of attention. The function of the background should be to complement and enhance the information not compete with it. Please lose the abstract, modern architecture. Point two - the graphic text. The aesthetic sensibility of the persons in charge of the on-screen text is highly questionable. Very often the size of the text in the full-screen graphic displays are close to unreadable, and to make matters worse, the hilited text is surrounded by a bright, neon color that clashes with the text white color turning it into an iridescent, illegible blob. In some cases, such as in lecture 33, the text is surrounded by dark grey or charcoal outline set against a darker background, which causes the text to practically disappear. Subtlety appears to be a dirty word to the graphic artists at The Great Courses. There needs to be a detached 3rd party that can dispassionately review these elements and say "whats wrong with this picture?". The editors are apparently too carried away with their own creative urges to properly judge their own work. It seems like every new release has a different style of presentation, for better or worse. I think it would behove the creative team to settle on a standard of presentation and stick with it until it no longer works. After viewing more than 40, mostly technical lectures, in the past 10 years, I would judge Prof. Bruce Edwards' Multivariable Calculus course to be close to perfect in terms of presentation and graphic display. Despite the complex nature of the subject matter, that course is one of the most comprehensible and easy to watch of any that I have seen. Prof. Stephen Ressler's architecture and engineering courses fall into that category as well. I own Prof. Davis' Organic Chemistry course as well, and I find that easier to watch than this course. The graphic presentations are less cluttered and easier to interpret and comprehend. If I were to offer any negative assessment of the informational content of this chemistry course, it might be that the writers spend a bit too much time on exposition and build up to the main subject at the beginning of each lecture, rather than spending that valuable time getting to the point. Considering the complex nature of this course, overall I qualify it a worthwhile and valuable resource of information. It is one of those courses that will maintain its value over time simply because there is so much information to absorb. It will stand-up to multiple viewings without becoming too familiar, stale or irrelevant. I awarded it only 4 stars on account of the flawed textual graphic and background set aesthetics.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better Than Most University Chemistry Courses It is hard to imagine that a chemistry course could be more complete and better presented than this course. It is, however, a course that is meant for those sincerely interested in learning or being updated in chemistry, as I am, having gone decades since my last university chemistry course. A word of caution, however. This is not "Chemistry for Poets". It requires a sincere interest, concentration on the lectures, and a background in elementary algebra. If one has the interest and dedication to watch sixty lectures, one will be rewarded with an amazing journey in modern chemistry and a better understanding of our world. Professor Davis is one of those dream professors that students seek out and make sure to attend every one of his lectures since he is prepared, entertaining, and presents the material in an understandable way. The standard chemistry course consists of lectures, labs, some homework, and the dreaded exams. Indeed, the latter is absent in this type of course but the rest are there. The lectures are fascinating and are complemented with superb illustrations and graphics. A very interesting component is recognition of the great men and women who have contributed to the science over the last several centuries. There are, of course, formulas and equations, but these are all slowly and graphically reinforced. Laboratory experiments illustrating the principles are dispersed throughout. There are occasionally problems presented at the end of some lectures that substitute as quizzes and homework that allow the student to try to apply the principles and formulas in the lectures whereby the recording can be stopped to work them out and then the answers are explained. In summary, anyone willing to spend thirty hours on the subject of chemistry will be rewarded with a unique opportunity. The 460 page guide is, in my opinion, the best course guide that The Teaching Company has produced in any science course. This and the rewind button are there to clarify formulas, points, and other material, something that is not there in a live university lecture. Finally, there are many gifted young science students in high school who would really enjoy receiving this as a gift and might set aside social media and video games to enter the world of chemistry with a great teacher.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An excellent, and enjoyable, overview of Chemistry Ok, I finished viewing the lectures, and having read some somewhat negative reviews, I am surprised. I have a B.S. in Chemistry so I am somewhat familiar with many of the concepts, but I am rusty . . . that B.S. was 'minted' 37 years ago. Anyway, to specifics: You wanted Calculus here? It wasn't needed in my opinion, but if you wanted some, lectures 30 and 31 #on Kinetics# had it for you. You wanted more visualizations? How could you? The series is packed, chuck-full, of very good graphics, and animations. Professor too dry? Nonsense. He had a wonderful delivery style in my opinion. If you coupled this series with some concentrated study in any freshman collage Chemistry text-book #yes, you need to add practice problems, and sample test, etc., to your study, just like in any other 'hard science subject#, you would come away with a great foundation in General Chemistry. Good job, Professor Davis. That was fun!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Review of Chemistry Basics - It is a Bargain I am a PhD Biochemist, 74 yr. old, worked since age 15 and retired at age 71. But my brain still works, and most of my memories are intact. This course is an excellent review of the entire field of chemistry. It was a great joy for me to take this course as a refreshment of my knowledge and remembrance of my working lifetime. The material is presented in an optimum way for a general review type of course. For me, it brought back many fond memories of my work and the many advances made during my working life, with fresh illustrations and graphic material using modern graphics that were not available in the past. I can heartily recommend this course for anyone who is interested in chemistry and has at least a basic understanding of elementary chemistry at high school level. It is very high quality at a moderate cost; a bargain considering the increasing cost of education these days!

The lab and “kitchen” experiments are very instructive. The course content is excellent which includes some the newest developments in chemistry. I also took the organic chemistry course given by professor Davis, so I can say that this course on general chemistry is another success.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Marvels of Chemistry Prof Davis does a fabulous job of bring chemistry alive. His choice of topics, his explanations, pacing, and delivery are all top-notch. He does not shy away from presenting the important theoretical foundations of the field, e.g., on thermodynamics. Here especially the viewer gets the benefit of a true master practicing his craft of teaching.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Errors in presentation of scientific notation In lecture #2, @ 4:20 into the video, one billionth is shown as 0.0000000001, with similar errors for one trillionth and one quadrillionth. Each decimal number has one too many zeros. My 5th grader would have caught this error. Why didn't the Teaching Company? Perhaps they're too caught up in this new flashy presentation style incorporating green screen backgrounds and techno sound effects. Personally, I prefer the older, more traditional lecture style. I also never cared for courses where the professor would keep walking around, deliberately turning to pose for different camera angles. This isn't Hollywood. How about focusing on good teachers and solid course content rather than distracting presentation styles? I like the professor and the depth of the course. I hope the Teaching Company will consider offering a more rigorous, calculus-based physics course suited for science and engineering majors.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from One of the best science courses, with minor flaws I'm very happy and pleased with The Great Courses for making this epic chemistry course - it was something they needed to do! It's one of my favorite science courses by them so far. I like the mix of the course - you learn a lot about science history, which I like. Overall I would recommend this course. I like the professor, and I think his pace is perfect. I have minor complaints. I don't like the classroom set. It looks very artificial and bland. Other reviewers have commented on this as well. I don't think that classroom setting should be used again. Sometimes simplicity really is the best thing, and when I watch Great Courses from 5-10 years ago, the classroom setting is absolutely better. Secondly, I think the text was a bit too small throughout. There were times when I had to squint to read the text - and I have 20/20 vision! No one with good vision should have to squint to read the text. Also, I like the professor - but there were a few bumps here & there in his explanation of things, there were times when he'd say something, & then he'd say, "right?" As if he's having trouble finding the right words to explain what he wants to explain. This was on rare occasions and for the most part, he did a great job. In some ways I prefer his style to Professor Wolfson's style who taught Physics and Our Universe, because Wolfson is very fast paced in his teaching style, and it can be hard to keep up with. This course has a better pace. I like the graphics in this course, but at times the graphics could also be too small & I had trouble understanding what was going on in the graphics at times. I think ultimately what it comes down to is how much you like chemistry & want to learn about it. People with moderate interest in chemistry may find more complaints... But I love chemistry & overall I'm still giddy about this course & frankly, I sleep with it under my pillow and get jealous when someone touches it. I have some issues. Despite that, I strongly recommend this course if you like chemistry and science & want to learn more. As far as the math goes - unit conversion, unit conversion, unit conversion!! Learn it & get good at it. I don't think this is the only chemistry course you should own if you're serious about studying chemistry. I think there are other chemistry courses worth owning as well (check out Nature of Matter) but this course is the best chemistry course I believe that you'll find.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not for me Unsatisfactory in almost every detail. The professor has a drone-like delivery. No vocal or facial animation. Thee set is unimpressive. Through the first nine lectures (all I could endure) the only "special effects" consisted of one or two still photographs. Knowing what your studios are capable of (a couple of Sean Carroll courses come to mind) this course is disappointing in that respect. Sixty half-hour lectures with the professor wearing the same clothes is a bit much too. All I can say is, my heart goes out to the students who have to sit in his classroom if he teaches them this way This course is unworthy of your name and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Chemistry review Very good general chemistry review that focuses on the general principles of chemistry. I filled in some details by reading the suggested text. The experiments were fun to watch. I did not care for the new appearance of the classroom set. Please go back and redo that. The professor however is a wonderful teacher who I highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Course For All I do not understand people that would give bad marks for a course that is above or below their understanding. They are simply grading the course in terms of themselves. In my case, I have an undergraduate degree in Chemistry. In spite of this, I do not mind relearning a subject especially if was taken many years ago. What everyone wants to know is whether this course is good for the average Teaching Company customer. This is the easiest to argue. Yes! In addition, this is a great course for first-year chemistry students. At first, I thought this course was light on math but I was wrong. Once I got to the lectures on kinetics, equilibrium, acid and basis, electrochemistry the math had increased considerably. He offers a challenge problem at the end of most lectures, and a few questions at the end of each chapter of the guidebook. The guidebook is appropriate for those not taking a chemistry class. If you are a student, then you already have a textbook to practise more questions. The diagrams and graphics are a huge advantage for your understanding. For instance, the lecture on Metallic and Ionic Solids was handled very well with 3D-graphics. When I was an undergraduate, it was difficult to visualize the packing by reading the passage and looking at the 2D-diagram. To be honest, I don’t think I fully understood the different lattices structures until now. He then drives home the understanding using the story of bronze with the lattice structure of copper and tin. Speaking of examples, many concepts are coupled with a good story. In spite of my background, I had no knowledge of the innumerable stories he told. For example, I understand organic substitution reactions but I was unaware of the story behind Sucralose. The lectures near the end of the course uses multiple skills from the course in order to understand the workings of our planet. If you taken a chemistry course before, then the stories alone are worth the purchase. I had a very minor problem with his Organic Chemistry course. I felt he did not have enough lectures to cover the material. Not so with this course. Give or take a few topics, he generally covers all the subjects in a first-year textbook. You are basically getting 2 to 3 lectures per chapter for a twenty-something chapter textbook from a classroom. So I’m thinking the difference between class and this course is more textbook problems and an extra 15 minutes. I agree when Professor Davis said, “6000 lectures” would not be enough to cover this topic in its entirety, however I am comfortable in saying that the 60 lectures in this course are suffice. Some of the best classes I’ve taken are from professors that are always carrying in a tray of test tubes at the beginning of the lecture. Professor Davis performs many demonstrations, some of which can be done in your very own kitchen. All demonstrations are well-done! Based on other well-liked Teaching Company courses, scores seem high for courses with demonstrations, graphics, diagrams, graphs, stories, and math problems. This course has a good balance of them all. I would recommend this course as a supplement to the first-year student and even for the high-school student. There are some on-line chemistry lectures from universities on YouTube. I am more inclined to watch the Teaching Company version. Buy this course and find out why. I wish to address the Teaching Company with this portion. This is an excellent course for Chemistry students at the university level. Saying this, I hope there are other future courses being considered of this caliber i.e. Biochemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, or even Cellular Biology. I agree with some of the comments below with regards to classes that are more math-based. We need a calculus-based physics course for scientists and engineers based on the format by Professor Edwards calculus series. What I mean by ‘format’ is the instructor spends most of the time setting up a problem and equation and giving the answer without wasting anytime on the algebra. This is not needed for this course. The math is very appropriate. With a math-based physics course, I’m guessing your sales may drop from the average Great Courses customer but I am thinking your sales will pick up with the university student. Keep up the good work. Sorry about the length.
